With our skin being our biggest organ of the body, it's only right we give it the TLC it needs in these cold windy days!
Now I’m sure some of you are thinking you have to go out and buy new products and how are you going to know if they are good? Or, are they going to work? How much do they cost?
I don’t know about you but I often find that when I pop into a beauty shop for one thing, I end up spending more than I have on a week’s food shopping as I couldn’t decide which product looked best and which smelled the most delicious – so much so that I just wanted to eat it!!!
Well, I’ve got some fabulous news for you...... you do not need to go out and spend a fortune!
I’m sharing with you one of my favourite homemade beauty tips for leaving your skin smooth, moisturised and helps remove toxins!
What better way than to treat your skin to a home-made Lucy Bee exfoliation?
Right, so here it is, my three super ingredients:
Lucy Bee Epsom Salts
Lucy Bee Coconut Oil
Oh, and a body brush
It’s always great using a brush when in the shower or have you tried dry brushing? Dry brushing before a shower has many benefits:
Sounds amazing doesn’t it? You can do this before or after using your scrub.
Epsom salt has beneficial properties that can soothe the body and mind. This is from the magnesium which helps to relax the nervous system, curing skin problems, soothing muscle and joints and great for detoxifying.
The magnesium helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation. It, also, eases pain and relieves inflammation. The magnesium in Epsom salts help flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances. Plus it’s not too harsh on the skin - nobody wants to use a body exfoliation and end up looking like they had run through a bush or worse a cat attacked them!
Lucy Bee Coconut Oil is high in Vitamin E which is very nourishing for the skin. It also contains Lauric acid which is antibacterial and anti fungal.
Lucy Bee Coconut Oil has properties that help with the appearance of stretch marks; helps with the cell renewal of the skin which makes it anti-aging; helps with skin pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. Do I need to give you any more reasons?!?
You can mix two of these together or use one depending on the benefits you would like!
Lemon: Sharp, sweet scent. Lemon essential oil is uplighting; detoxiflying; helps with fatigue; energising; antifungal; antioxidant; astringent; and refreshing. I would recommend this as a detox scrub or first thing in the morning to wake you up!
Lavender: Sweet floral scent. Lavender is soothing; antifungal; anti-inflammatory; antiseptic; and acts like a sedative. Great in the evening when preparing to get ready to relax and sleep!
Eucalyptus: Minty fresh scent. This is analgesic; antibacterial; wakening; anti-inflammatory; fresh; soothing for muscles, joints and respiratory system; and great for the skin. I’d definitely recommend this after physical exercise or early in the morning!
Rose: Floral scent. Rose is well known to be great for sensitive skin; is anti-infectious; has sedative properties; emotional balance; and skin health. It’s also been shown to be great for digestive and menstrual issues. I would recommend this for the evening.
Use 50/50 Lucy Bee Coconut Oil and Epsom salts. Mix these together and add 6-8 drops of your chosen oil!
Mix well and apply all over body and always scrub upwards towards the heart. This will help to move the lymph towards the lymph nodes which will help with removing toxins and water retention.
Using these three super ingredients together will leave your skin smooth – nobody likes dry flakey skin! Your skin will be nourished and hydrated as well as making you smell good.
Oh, one more thing, while you’re at it, why not take a nice long relaxing bath (20 minutes max.) with a large cupful of Epsom salts to pull out toxins and let the magnesium work its magic on your joints and muscles to relax you.
Do this before bed and you’re sure of a great night’s kip!
